Hey Guys! It has been a little while since I posted a new blog, which is partly attributed to it being playoff season (late games are killing me!) and partly attributed to life just being… life. But I’m back sharing my thoughts on if you can save or if you need to splurge when it comes to micellar water!
I’m the type of person where if I’ve found a great product, I’ll use it and use it forever. That said, when something is expensive… I’ll tend to try to find more affordable options too. That was the spirit that lead me to seeking out a more affordable option than my much beloved Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water.
And I found one! Please check out my full review of the Garnier SkinActive Micellar water and how it holds up when compared to the Bioderma Sensibio here:
You can watch the products both in action in this video… and see me 100% makeup free! Lucky you.
All in all, I’m in love with the Garnier SkinActive product AND it’s affordability! I really couldn’t find a distinct difference between the two products other than the price point, and having tried out the Garnier version the past month, it also doesn’t dry out my skin or cause breakouts.
Do you have a favorite drugstore micellar water product? I’d love to hear about it! I’ve heard there are micellar water makeup remover wipes and I’d love to try those sometime as makeup remover wipes can be pretty harsh sometimes.
I got exciting mail yesterday… information about the spring Sephora sale! I’m not sure about you guys, but oftentimes in the spring I’m looking for long-wearing foundation, bronzer, products for beachy waves and glossy lips.
You know… the opposite of what I’m looking for in the winter!
I tend to purchase good products because if I find something works well, I will use it until I’m scraping out the bottle with a q-tip. To me, that’s better than purchasing three similar products and using half- so whether it’s a luxury brand or my favorite drug store item, if I like it and it’s on sale… I’ll probably buy it to stock up. This is also a great time to try something new!
With that in mind, here’s what’s on my wishlist for the Sephora VIB Spring Sale! Things don’t go on 10-15% off at Sephora very often and the 20% VIB Sale is a long, long way away if you need anything.
I wanted to do a post about what I love from Mac, and what I think you could probably get for cheaper or elsewhere and get a similar result/product. Sometimes living well for less isn’t just about not buying things, sometimes it’s about being smart about what you do buy.
Check out my video and the links below for more information! I’m sorry the quality looks bad at the end! I SWEAR I wasn’t trying to obscure my identity, it was just by chance that the camera went out of focus right when I started talking crap. One day I’m going to get the hang of this.
If you are in the Edmonton area and want to find that eczema-proof sweater I chat about in the video from Barefoot Dreams, look no further than Cloud Nine Pajamas! Their sales staff is so sweet and with three stores in the area, they’re so easy to visit!
What were your favorite things in 2016? Please tell me in the comments!
For those of you sick of my Sephora sale posts, rejoice, since this is the last one! My fellow makeup lovers can be sad with me haha. Today’s post is a gift guide of sorts (more of these coming as we fly along to the Christmas holiday) for those that may have a beauty lover to buy for! I love it when I can buy a Christmas or birthday present on sale!
Since a bunch of these are limited edition items or very expensive, I haven’t tried most of them. But I wanted to share what I’d get a friend or family member. Some of these are holiday gift sets and some are luxury items that make my insides turn they’re so expensive, but are well rated online and cult favorites.
Finally, possibly my favorite part of the Sephora VIB Sale! Anyone who knows me knows that I loooove makeup. I dialed it back a ton for my old job to a more simple, chic and natural look but I love a smoky eye, experimenting with different shades of bright or dark lipsticks, contouring, highlighting etc etc… I love it all. It was so hard to choose just five items for each category, so I stuck with my everyday favorites for the ones I am recommending. These items are either something I use every day, use so much I buy 2 or more per year (which is why I’d buy two during the VIB sale) or both.
Estee Lauder’s Double Wear is a total mainstay for loads of girls- although admittedly usually for oily skinned beauties! I love it even though I’m dry for its crazy staying power- it has lasted me through literal 20 hour days where I’m hot and moving around. I just start by moisturizing, then put down a moisturizing primer (#3!), and apply with a damp beauty sponge. I use the Hourglass Ambient lighting powder to set my undereye concealer- every day for the past two years, and while I’ve hit pan on my container of it, it’s still going strong. A great buy by my mind when you consider the cost per use. Becca’s Backlight Priming Filter is holy grail status in my mind- I love how it illuminates, hydrates and makes your makeup apply nicely. For powder, my sister and I both love the Smashbox Halo Hydrating powder. I’m a bit too pale for it right now BUT I love how it doesn’t look cakey and doesn’t make my skin flake off. Lastly, the Stila eyeshadow pallette I linked is my go-to for every day because it has twelve all-matte shades that are warm, neutral and cool, making the perfect base for any eye look. I love just swiping the orange shade into my crease, popping a bit of highlighter to the ball of my eye, and doing a quick winged liner for a fast but pretty look.
I’m sorry I missed posting this yesterday- I decided that it was more important to spend some extra time applying for jobs as today was a bit busy (but good busy!). I’m working on getting my posts ready a few days in advance to build some “buffer” time but… you know how these things go.
Anyhow, these are my favorite tools and some of the tools that I’d be most interested in trying.
