Becca Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder Becca Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder

Hello Friends! Today’s post is a Real Girl Review on the Becca Hydra Mist Set and Refresh Powder! If you saw my Summer 2018 Favorites video or my Summer Lovin’ post, then you probably already know that I am a huge fan of this powder. I am a dry, dry skinned individual with a huge issue surrounding irritated, cracking, reaction-prone skin because of it. I’ve been a bit powder-adverse because of it honestly, but in the summer I often wish I had something that didn’t make my skin so angry that I could use to set with.

Enter Becca’s Hydra Mist Set and Refresh Powder. My sister actually picked this item up but long-term loaned it to me to see what I thought about the product and how it performed on such sensitive skin. Normally if I powder, my skin is peeling by about 2pm on a work day. With this powder, my skin starts off looking great and ends the day looking great, no touchups and no issues.

One of the coolest things about this product is that when you first apply it, it feels cooling- almost wet! In terms of a summertime pick-me-up, this powder is amazing! That being said, over time that feeling faded and now when I use the powder, I don’t feel any cooling effect. The sifter lid very specifically says to keep it shut to keep the powder “cool” but even with being very conscientious about ensuring the lid is closed, that cooling feeling is gone. Maybe it has something to do with living in such a dry climate? I’m not sure.

This powder does everything I expect a powder to. It sets down my makeup and makes it last well while not irritating or drying out my skin. It doesn’t have a “flawless, insta-ready finish” like a lot of powders claim to have, but it does have a nice peachy undertone that makes me look fresh and alive. What more do you want?

The Becca Hydra Mist Set and Refresh Powder is $46 for 10g of product at Sephora Canada ($38 if you are in the United States), which for my uses is pretty affordable. Seriously, this powder would last me a year+. That said, you can get products like Mac Cosmetic’s Prep and Prime translucent loose setting powder for about 12$ less for a similar amount. Even cult favorite, Laura Mercier Translucent loose setting powder offers three times the product for only 2$ more. This is nuts! So while this is a great product, I’m not convinced it’s great value. I hate that, because it’s so hard to find a good powder for dry, sensitive skin. Would you still choose to purchase it? Let me know in the comments what you’d do!
