Hello! New Year New You is now upon us, and what better time to do some “research” in the form of testing out a new rosè, right? I thought my rose reviews would end at the end of my series, but you can’t keep me away. Sterling is a Californian winery that makes one of my most-loved cabernet sauvignon bottles, so when I saw the mini version of the rose on offer at Wine and Beyond, I knew I had to try it. And so, when my sister and I were decorating her house for the holidays, we decided to test it out together. When you pour the wine, you’ll note that the color is a really pretty, bright pink. In terms of tasting notes, it is nice and light and crisp- there’s a nice minerality to balance a slight fruitiness. My sister and I both dislike a sickly sweet…

Hello Friends! Today’s post is a Real Girl Review on the Becca Hydra Mist Set and Refresh Powder! If you saw my Summer 2018 Favorites video or my Summer Lovin’ post, then you probably already know that I am a huge fan of this powder. I am a dry, dry skinned individual with a huge issue surrounding irritated, cracking, reaction-prone skin because of it. I’ve been a bit powder-adverse because of it honestly, but in the summer I often wish I had something that didn’t make my skin so angry that I could use to set with. Enter Becca’s Hydra Mist Set and Refresh Powder. My sister actually picked this item up but long-term loaned it to me to see what I thought about the product and how it performed on such sensitive skin. Normally if I powder, my skin is peeling by about 2pm on a work day. With…

Hey Guys! Time for another Real Girl Review! This time I’ll be taking a look at the Tarte Tartelette In Bloom palette. My sister recently got me this palette as a gift as a thank you for helping her out when Sylvie was very newly home and wanted to do nothing more than howl and cry. All night long. Fun fact about me: I can sleep through pretty much anything. I can also fall asleep in some pretty ridiculous conditions. A howling dog? No biggie. My sister is a light sleeper, so when Sylvie first came home, so did I as her puppy au pair. Nobody can live on zero sleep! The fact that she had a sweet puppy to snuggle and love had a lot to do with it too. I’m obsessed with this dog, guys. So, back to the point of this: my sister got me the…

Hey guys!   Today I’m sharing my final post in my Real Girl Review roundup of gel-alternative nail polishes! This last experience is with the OPI Infinite Shine 2 polishes! They are marketed to last 11 days which seems an odd number, but they are specifically stated to be “gel-like”. My sister picked up this color and the starter set of the base and top coat at Sally Beauty supply and I’ve tried it a couple of times now. The first difference is that you need to use a base coat and a top coat, the duo pack of which will cost $19.99. Then, you’ll need a color, which will cost about $13, and there are 150+ to choose from! Keeping everything the same to my last two posts, a once-monthly salon gel manicure will cost you about $420 a year. With the $13 per color and $20 set of base…

Hey guys! Back with another real girl review, this one being the next in my series about gel manicure alternatives! If you haven’t seen my review of Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel, you might want to check it out! Using the costing from my last post, a once-monthly salon gel manicure would cost you around $420/yr. This product costs $11.96 for the color and $11.96 for the topcoat, so assuming a new shade every month and 2 bottles of top coat, you’re looking at approximately $170 before tax. This product is great. My sister has even tested the top coat with non-matched (not the Essie Gel Couture) colors and it still keeps your nails looking flawless for at least a week, if not longer. The above pictures are one week into wear. I kept this on for the full 14 days, and despite doing some weeding in the garden and carrying…

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doW0cPG81EE] Hey guys! I hope the couple of weeks of May have been treating you well, it finally decided to become spring here in Edmonton, with a dash of summer, so I’m enjoying the change in temperatures and the sunshine. This post should really be called “March and April plus Half of May Favorites” since I didn’t do a favorites video in the last few months! I didn’t feel like I had much to say, but in the past few weeks I’ve been realizing… oh I have been loving things! They’re just completely integrated into my life so I don’t realize as much. Beauty: Exfoliating face wash Gel moisturizer – Under $10! Hey Guys! It has been a little while since I posted a new blog, which is partly attributed to it being playoff season (late games are killing me!) and partly attributed to life just being… life. But I’m back sharing my thoughts on if you can save or if you need to splurge when it comes to micellar water! I’m the type of person where if I’ve found a great product, I’ll use it and use it forever. That said, when something is expensive… I’ll tend to try to find more affordable options too. That was the spirit that lead me to seeking out a more affordable option than my much beloved Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water. And I found one! Please check out my full review of the Garnier SkinActive Micellar water and how it holds up when compared to the Bioderma Sensibio here: [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqYuTiM9680] You can watch the…
