Hey guys! Today I wanted to share the perfect Christmas morning brunch idea- savory baked brie. Why is it perfect, you may be wondering. Who wants a giant block of cheese for breakfast on Christmas?

Me. And once you’ve tried this, you, too. It’s ideal for Christmas because it’s a perfect “snacking” brunch, you can have as little or as much as you want and it goes amazingly well with fresh fruit like nectarines and pears as well as fresh salads. And a glass of wine, if you’re feeling it.

Another reason it’s perfect for Christmas is that you use the same fresh herbs to top it as you’d want with turkey dinner, so it makes things super easy in terms of shopping.

Lastly… this is really, really easy to make. Let something about your holiday season be easy, why don’t you?

Savory Herb Baked Brie

1 double or triple cream brie round

Fresh herbs, minced (thyme, sage, parsley, rosemary and green onion are our favorite mix)

Toasted baguette rounds (I’d recommend a half baguette per person)

An assortment of fresh fruit, or salad

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees and select an oven-safe dish that is of an appropriate size for the brie round you purchased. There are brie dishes, but honestly we most often use a pie plate.

While your oven preheats, wash and chop all of your fresh herbs and set aside. Next, remove the upper rid from your brie (using a chef’s knife, or unflavored waxed tooth floss if you’re not great with a knife) and sprinkle all the herbs onto the cheese.

Pop your assembled brie into the oven you preheated and let it melt- your brie block size will determine the length of time you want to wait, but just keep an eye on it. The outer rind that you left on will keep the melted brie contained for the most part.

Once melted, you pull it out of the oven and slather on grilled/toasted baguette rounds. The best.

What are you going to have for breakfast Christmas morning?
