Hello Friends! Today’s post is a Real Girl Review on the Becca Hydra Mist Set and Refresh Powder! If you saw my Summer 2018 Favorites video or my Summer Lovin’ post, then you probably already know that I am a huge fan of this powder. I am a dry, dry skinned individual with a huge issue surrounding irritated, cracking, reaction-prone skin because of it. I’ve been a bit powder-adverse because of it honestly, but in the summer I often wish I had something that didn’t make my skin so angry that I could use to set with. Enter Becca’s Hydra Mist Set and Refresh Powder. My sister actually picked this item up but long-term loaned it to me to see what I thought about the product and how it performed on such sensitive skin. Normally if I powder, my skin is peeling by about 2pm on a work day. With…

Hey Guys! I wanted to share a quick take on some things I’ve been loving so far this summer! The summertime is always a fun time for me, full of gazebo nights at my parents place, pared down makeup, fun summer fashion and loads of time out in the sunshine. I recorded a Youtube Video (subscribe here) talking all about my favorites! Check the video out below. These are the exact shorts I was mentioning. You can read all about the health benefits of dried apricots here. If you want to check out Em Sheldon’s content, you can check out her Instagram, Youtube and Twitter in addition to her blog! What are your favorites for the summer months?

Hey guys! It’s been a while (3 weeks!) since I’ve posted and I’m excited to be back. I’ve been busy enjoying a gorgeous summertime here, gardening, playing in the grass with puppies and enjoying a beer in the gazebo with my family most weekends. There have been a couple heat streaks here as well, which has had me sneaking off to my sister’s or my parent’s place to keep cool. And then of course, catching the flu forced some downtime for me, too. I had to take the bad with the good, though! I can’t believe I caught the flu for the second time this year which is basically unheard of for me! I’ll catch coldsdecently often in the winter since I work in a post-secondary setting and often take the bus when it’s cold out. But the flu is not something I’m used to and it knocked me right…

Hi guys! Today’s Sunday Dinner post is about a peach raspberry crisp my family shared and enjoyed recently. This type of dessert is so perfect for a Sunday dinner because it comes together quite quickly and can be made with fruit from your freezer. Crisp is an amazing way to use up fruit that is super ripe. In this crisp we used previously frozen peaches that we had gotten at the farmer’s market the year before and gorgeous fresh raspberries. Want to know how? Peach-Raspberry Crisp $7.96 Serves 8, or $0.96 per serving ($1.86 per serving with a scoop of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream) Four or five peeled peaches (can be frozen slices)- ~$2 1 pint of raspberries – $4.50 Oats ½ cup – $0.16 Flour ½ cup – $0.05 Butter (just enough melted butter to bind the oats, brown sugar and flour together)-  ~$0.50 Brown sugar ½ cup-…

Hey Guys! Today’s post is something a little different, because it’s all about how to style one suit ten ways. I know that suiting can feel complicated and it can be hard to tell if a stand-out suit is something that’s worth the investment. This floral suit from Carolina Belle was very affordable, purchased at Marshall’s, can be worn no less than ten different ways and is my response to anyone wondering if a floral suit is actually a practical purchase for someone in a business casual or business formal industry. The Floral Suit Here is the suit itself! It is floral from head to toe and was styled with the lace t-shirt style top shown below. If you’re looking to recreate this outfit at a similar price point, I’d recommend stalking Marshalls. For a more expensive look at it, consider Le Chateau (I have several suits from there that…

I’ve been getting some questions ever since my March Favorites (and some “where’s the butter” comments to my insta-stories) regarding my revamped “nutritional guidelines” (apparently it’s not a diet). Some people have noticed that I’ve appeared to have lost weight and other have just noticed that the food I’m talking about is much more healthful. My weightloss has been the result of diet changes I’ve been making (or my die-t as my mum has coined it… since it cuts out most things I love). The first thing I’d like to say is that the changes to my lifestyle are at the recommendation of a dietitian and my doctor. Everything is supervised. I track my food super closely to make sure I’m getting the right amounts of everything. Don’t be worrying about me, other than that I miss butter. I hesitated to share too much about this at first because it…

Hi guys! Post 2 in the “Landscaping on a Budget” series is allllll about sod, decks/structures, shrubs and trees. These are like putting icing on the “cake” you just created with ground work, concrete work, etc. The final installment will be the decoration- furniture, accent plants and accessories and information about the type of fence my sister chose (and why!). You’ll be happy to hear that the majority of this post is DIY, if not all! Sod (Delivery + Do-it-Yourself) Oh God, the Sod. This was an ugly ugly day in the process of making my sister’s yard the beautiful retreat that it is, as it was cold, rainy, windy and 50% of my family had the flu or was coming down with the flu. I had a partially torn pec, which I would find out later (I thought my shoulder was just sore… it was not). And my poor sweet…

Hey guys! I wanted to talk about some ways to show love to your mum this Mother’s Day that go beyond the consumerism often pushed around these sorts of holidays. I’m not against presents, but most mums do so much for us and love their families so hard that I get sad seeing “stock gifts” being pushed by so many in the blogging industry. I wanted to share some ways to thoughtfully show personalized love to our moms on the one day a year the whole world is reminded the huge contributions our moms make not only to our lives, but our society as a whole. The Gift of Time Now that I’m older and don’t live with my parents, the biggest thing I miss is quality time together. I think a lot of families can relate, so when I’m thinking about what I want to do for my mum for…

I’m so, so, so excited about today’s post because it’s a collective clothing haul and absolutely nothing is over $50. I recorded a video where I try on each item and talk about it because I wanted you guys to have a chance to see how these items look on a very “average” body, not just the models online! Some of these pieces may no longer be online or available since this was a collective haul that was ongoing for about 2 months, but I’ve done my best to link similar items in similar price points so that you can achieve the same looks for a great price. My tips are definitely to shop the Walmart clearance section, Walmart in general (they have some pretty cute stuff, don’t doubt me!), Costco’s clothing section, Old Navy sales (and clearance) and Joe Fresh! Outfit One was a striped flare sleeve dress from…

Hey guys! The Sephora Spring sale is starting this Friday for Rouge members (next weekend for VIB’s and Beauty Insiders!) and like most people, I’ve been considering what I might like to buy in the sale! My opportunity to stock up is really downgraded by my tax bill, but I’ve still been looking and considering as I have some gift cards. Bronzer To me, bronzer is the perfect item to purchase in spring/summer. Like most people, I get into a “less makeup” mode in the spring and summer and love focusing on fresh, bronzed and simple looks. My longtime love is Nars Laguna bronzer, but I’d also love to try the liquid version sometime. Becca and Tarte both have great options too (Becca is a little more wearable if you’re pale like me) and I’d LOVE to try a bronzer from Hourglass sometime! Bright lip color I love adding a…
