French onion soup is one of those cheesy, carb-y, savory indulgences that you dream about diving face first into a bowl of after being outside on a cool day. It’s also the kind of dish that you can whip up out of some onions from the pantry, boxed beef stock, stale bread and some cheese and herbs. Those Frenchmen… so smart and surprisingly thrifty! This is one of those dishes that could easily appear to be intimidating. But in reality, all you’re doing is carmelizing onions with thyme, then simmering with beef broth and some other savory items, and then melting cheese on top of a small bread round before serving. I have a few suggestions for how to do this, depending on if you have oven safe bowls or if you’re freezing the soup. Traditionally, you would place a round piece of old/dry baguette in an oven/heatsafe bowl, top…

Hi guys! Happy New Year! I hope that 2017 brings new fun, new promise and new opportunities for everyone reading this. I often feel that we make our own luck in many ways, either through hard work to create good things or a good attitude to make mediocre situation awesome. Every year, I try to set some goals to help guide me through the year towards doing positive things. I’m not a “resolution” type of person because I find they just don’t work for me, but when I set goals and try my best towards meeting them, I find the outcome is always positive even if I don’t meet my goal fully. My 2017 Goals Focus on the positives: 2016 was a tougher year for me, as it was for many people, with my roommate moving out unexpectedly due to her own hardship, the loss of my job in November and…

Hey guys! If you’re searching for some casual outfit inspiration for NYE still, you’ve found your place! If you are looking for something a bit more fancy for an upcoming event at an affordable price, I’ve included a bunch of options under $150 below as well. These photos were obviously shot a while ago, but I loved that the dress from Dynamite (no longer available) was comfortable enough for dinner or dancing, but that paired with the faux-leather vest was still casual enough to not make me look like an eighteen-year-old celebrating their first booze-allowable New Year’s Eve. If you wanted to go out dancing, I’d switch to some fun pumps and ditch the vest! The Nine West clutch was my nod to color and I love being able to see my bag in the sea of black clutches when getting ready at a girlfriend’s place. Dressier options: Parker Montclair…

I know I know… This is so late! I have such immense respect for videographers, editors, producers, and Youtubers because editing something takes so long for me. I get really frustrated and I’m not the most skilled to begin with, but I love just sitting down and talking about the things I love naturally rather than writing it all out and putting in pictures. Unfortunately because I get frustrated I kind of walk away from the process a lot, which I should stop doing. Or start filming videos two weeks before I want to post them. [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4-lKd8mAu8] What are some things that you’ve been loving recently? Let me know! Info on what’s mentioned: Similar Charger ban.do Agenda (via Chapters Indigo, where I bought it) Similiar pink coats: Pockets wool coat by Mango LAPELS WOOL COAT by Mango Similar Boots: ‘Winsor’ Block Heel Bootie by Treasure and Bond LYRIQ…

Hey all! Finally, possibly my favorite part of the Sephora VIB Sale! Anyone who knows me knows that I loooove makeup. I dialed it back a ton for my old job to a more simple, chic and natural look but I love a smoky eye, experimenting with different shades of bright or dark lipsticks, contouring, highlighting etc etc… I love it all. It was so hard to choose just five items for each category, so I stuck with my everyday favorites for the ones I am recommending. These items are either something I use every day, use so much I buy 2 or more per year (which is why I’d buy two during the VIB sale) or both. Estee Lauder’s Double Wear is a total mainstay for loads of girls- although admittedly usually for oily skinned beauties! I love it even though I’m dry for its crazy staying power- it…

Those who follow me over on Twitter know that on November 1st, my position was eliminated due to restructuring and I lost my job on the spot. The timing was not what I was expecting, but I can’t entirely say that it was a surprise to me that changes were coming to my business group and that it could effect my job. My situation isn’t one that is unfamiliar to a lot of people, especially in Edmonton and Alberta right now, and sadly could continue to become other people’s reality. It’s weird to wake up in the morning prepared for a full day of work, starting that work, and by 7:30am having no purpose to the day. While admittedly my first day off of work was full of drinking coffee on the couch petting the family dogs at my parent’s place, there’s a number of things beyond looking at your…

Hi Guys! Since the regular Sephora sale is starting this Friday, I wanted to share some of my favorite things to get for 20% off for VIB’s (use code 20VIB). I decided to do a section for what I use and would repurchase, and then what I would love to try!
