I’m so, so, so excited about today’s post because it’s a collective clothing haul and absolutely nothing is over $50. I recorded a video where I try on each item and talk about it because I wanted you guys to have a chance to see how these items look on a very “average” body, not just the models online! Some of these pieces may no longer be online or available since this was a collective haul that was ongoing for about 2 months, but I’ve done my best to link similar items in similar price points so that you can achieve the same looks for a great price. My tips are definitely to shop the Walmart clearance section, Walmart in general (they have some pretty cute stuff, don’t doubt me!), Costco’s clothing section, Old Navy sales (and clearance) and Joe Fresh! Outfit One was a striped flare sleeve dress from…

Hey guys! I am SO excited to share with you today my back to college essentials in collaboration with Walmart! Some of you who have been following me from the beginning may know that I had an extended course of study in college, obtaining a certificate, diploma and degree over a 7 year time period. Being in college has been a huge part of my adult life- the first place I wrote professionally, where I became and honed my skills as a people-manager, where I discovered my love of math and -maybe most importantly- where I developed my love for the polytechnic I now also work for. It’s safe to say that in those seven years, some of which I was a full time student and working full time in the finance industry, I developed some tips and tricks for how to design a study space that works and how…

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uF7eeiTSkYg] Hey guys! I know, I know… another stupidly late favorites post. Already we’re almost a month into 2017 (HOW) and I still haven’t posted this… shame on me ;). These were my standby favorites for 2016! Hey guys! I’m coming at you with another affordable outfit post! This is one of my favorite combos for a day at home- a cozy sweater that isn’t too thick, but still warm, and a loose pair of joggers. I like this for a cooking day, working on the computer or just watching some TV because it’s comfortable, inexpensive (I make messes cooking sometimes, the last thing I want to do is destroy a beautiful and expensive sweater) and cute!  These pants were snagged on sale for under $10 at Walmart and I’ve linked a bunch of similar options below that are super affordable as well.  This sweater is a thin knit that I picked up at Target a couple of years ago which is sadly not an option anymore in Canada, but don’t worry,  I’ve linked other options for this as well. Absolutely everything is under $25, which I love. Also,…

Hey guys! If you’re searching for some casual outfit inspiration for NYE still, you’ve found your place! If you are looking for something a bit more fancy for an upcoming event at an affordable price, I’ve included a bunch of options under $150 below as well. These photos were obviously shot a while ago, but I loved that the dress from Dynamite (no longer available) was comfortable enough for dinner or dancing, but that paired with the faux-leather vest was still casual enough to not make me look like an eighteen-year-old celebrating their first booze-allowable New Year’s Eve. If you wanted to go out dancing, I’d switch to some fun pumps and ditch the vest! The Nine West clutch was my nod to color and I love being able to see my bag in the sea of black clutches when getting ready at a girlfriend’s place. Dressier options: Parker Montclair…

Hey Guys! Since I’ve been trying to incorporate more affordable fashion into the blog, I’ve been watching for sales on online retailers of affordable clothes. Which, shopbop.com is an online retailer of all price ranges of fashion, but they are having a big sale that ends tomorrow (Friday, October 14th) at midnight (Pacific time). Your order will be 25% off which for us Canadian girls, means we are only paying ~10% currency markup rather than 1.34 Canadian dollars for every US Dollar we purchase in. Regardless of what currency you’re purchasing in, though, this is a great sale and an awesome opportunity to buy on-season items more affordably. I’ve included below some of my favorite picks under $150! All you need to do to take advantage of this sale is use the code MAINEVENT16 at checkout! Tops 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 Bottoms 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 Dresses 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 Shoes 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 Accessories 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 ps. Shopbop.com will recognize…

Hey! So I recently said in my post about my favorite fall nail colors that I have a super neutral, basic wardrobe because I can’t afford the cost of dressing super seasonally. I thought it would be worth writing a post about how I swap out certain things in my wardrobe and affordable suggestions should you wish to do the same! Everything is linked to the retailer (Boohoo, Dynamite, Joe Fresh, Old Navy) and under $100, I promise. All you have to do is click the picture and you’ll be taken to the retailer. All of these are mostly casual items as I know not everyone works in a formal environment, but I’ll be doing a similar post for work wear, don’t you worry my office girls! 1. Work your weights No, I’m not telling you to go to the gym, I’d never do that. I’m suggesting you switch up…

Hey Guys! I wanted to try something new and record a video for a post, and I thought a monthly favorites post would be great to test it out on. I tried to record this about a week ago and it was a miserable failure, so I recorded and uploaded to Youtube a second attempt which didn’t upload well (choppy), so here I am a bit (lot) late with a third attempt! [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDHdvKJVc_k&w=420&h=315] Beauty and Skincare: Cerave Bioderma True Match Smashbox Household Items: Egg Carton (different) Egg Carton (exact) French Press (Similar) Clothing: Black Dress (similar, also Le Chateau and Canadian made) Joe Fresh two layer top (exact) Lastly, my book for the month!
